Hearing false rumors that some places in the province had a dike break, on the morning of September 10, many people went to buy food at traditional markets, convenience stores, and supermarkets in Hai Duong city to stock up.
According to a survey by Hai Duong Newspaper reporters, at Dong Ngo Quyen market, by 10 am, most of the vegetable and food stalls were out of stock. Notably, the prices of all items have increased compared to normal days. Specifically, green squash costs 35,000 VND/kg, an increase of 10,000 VND/kg compared to normal days; potatoes cost 30,000 VND/kg, an increase of 5,000-7,000 VND/kg, chicken costs 150,000-180,000 VND/kg, an increase of 20,000-25,000 VND/kg... Instant noodle prices at grocery stores have increased by 20,000-30,000 VND/box compared to normal. Many stores have run out of goods to sell. Instant noodle prices remain the same at supermarkets.
At many convenience stores and supermarkets, people have also stockpiled goods, so some items such as instant noodles, bread, milk, etc. are not available in large quantities, even "sold out". Below are some images recorded by Hai Duong Newspaper reporters:
The "dam break" information is a false rumor. People should be wary of false rumors and should not rush to buy and hoard goods, pushing up prices.
