Nearly 650 players compete in the Primary and Secondary School Chess Tournament

The Hai Duong province primary and secondary school chess tournament for the 2023-2024 school year has the largest number of participants ever.

The Organizing Committee awarded souvenir flags to the teams participating in the tournament.

On the morning of January 23, at the Provincial Sports Gymnasium, the Department of Education and Training opened the Provincial Primary and Secondary School Chess Tournament for the 2023-2024 school year within the framework of the 2024 Hai Duong Province Phu Dong Sports Festival.

The tournament attracted nearly 650 students from grades 1-9 from primary and secondary schools from teams of 12 districts, towns and cities. The tournament had the largest number of students participating ever.

Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Pham Hong Quan delivered the opening speech of the tournament.

The tournament applies the rules of rapid chess, each game is limited to 15 minutes and standard chess.

The matches took place immediately after the opening ceremony.

Closing ceremony and award ceremony on January 26.

In the 2022-2023 school year, Hai Duong City won the Provincial Primary and Secondary School Chess Championship.

The provincial chess tournament for primary and secondary school students in the 2023-2024 school year has the largest number of participating students ever.

The provincial primary and secondary school chess tournament is an annual tournament that aims to create a useful playground for students, contributing to the development of the chess movement inside and outside of schools. This is an opportunity to select excellent players to form a team to compete in the National Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024.
