Ford reduces prices on many cars in May

Following Japanese brands such as Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi, Subaru..., Ford also reduced prices on a series of cars in May when the market became quiet again after April's sales growth. All Ford car models were discounted during this period.

The American company applies a warranty and maintenance gift package worth 30 million VND for the C-size CUV model, Ford Territory. For other product lines such as Everest, the gift package is 20-25 million VND, Ranger 20 million VND. However, depending on the dealer, customers can negotiate to deduct it from the car price instead of receiving the gift package.

Ford car prices at dealerships are further reduced by their own business policies. For example, in addition to the company's VND30 million discount, dealerships also reduce the price by VND20-30 million, bringing the car price down to VND739-749 million, equivalent to its competitor, the Mazda CX-5, which starts at VND749 million.

The best-selling pickup truck on the market, Ford Ranger, is reduced by about 40-50 million VND when combining two promotional programs of the company and the dealer. With Ford Everest, the total discount is about 30-40 million VND depending on the version.

Despite a series of vehicle promotions, Ford unexpectedly increased the price of its most premium SUV, the Explorer, by VND100 million to VND2.099 billion since the beginning of May. The decision to increase the price came just two months after the company reduced the price by more than VND400 million for this model.

The new price of 2.099 billion VND of Ford Explorer is currently 36 million VND lower than the lowest version of Volkswagen Teramont (special version Limited Edition) priced at 2.138 billion VND. In fact, Ford dealers are still implementing promotions of 40-50 million VND discount to push out inventory of Explorer versions produced in 2023. Some places still have a small number of 2022 versions left, the discount is more than 100 million VND.

Explaining the price increase of Explorer, a representative of Ford Vietnam said that they wanted to balance and recalculate the financial aspects of sales. The company has no plans for an upgrade in Vietnam of the Ford Explorer, a model that was launched in international markets in 2023.

After 4 months of 2023, Ford sold 11,074 vehicles, down 7% compared to the same period last year. This sales volume of Ford ranked third in the market, after Hyundai (14,420 vehicles) and Toyota (11,804 vehicles).
