Tourists are engrossed in chasing adult wild boars.

Wild boars are considered to be one of the strongest and most dangerous animals in the wild. They can weigh up to 300kg, run at speeds of up to 70km/h and can tear almost anything apart with their sharp tusks.

Wild boars are particularly aggressive when cornered, so paying an entrance fee to a tourist attraction and then risking your life to catch one may seem a little far-fetched. However, visitors to the scenic area of Jiuhuang Mountain in Sichuan can definitely try this unique experience.

Images and videos of tourists chasing adult wild boars and trying to control them with their bare hands have been circulating on Chinese social media, causing concern among many people.

In fact, this experience has been carried out in the scenic area on Mount Jiuhuang for 11 years now, and strangely, no serious injuries have occurred since then.

Tourists can take home pigs if they catch them.

Some sources say that at one point, the scenic spot not only let visitors take home pigs if they caught them, but also offered them cash rewards of up to 10,000 yuan (US$1,500). The cash rewards have now been scrapped, but visitors can still take their “trophies” home.

The scenic spot’s website states that the pigs released for tourists to chase are not wild boars. They are second-generation wild boars that have been raised in captivity and do not have tusks. That means their aggressive instincts have been greatly reduced. However, potential risks still exist.
