The Vietnamese futsal team entered the first match of the World Cup play-off round with a match against the Kyrgyzstan futsal team. Starting with the strongest group, the Vietnamese futsal team dominated their opponents. Thinh Phat and his teammates forced Kyrgyzstan to retreat deep into their own half.

The first chance of the match belonged to Anh Duy and Doan Phat but both players missed it regrettably. On the other side of the front line, Kyrgyzstan's defensive and counter-attacking style of play was effective. In the 6th minute, they put the ball into the Vietnamese team's goal but the goal was not recognized.

Attacking many times without scoring, the Vietnamese team paid a heavy price. In the 9th minute, the Kyrgyz team organized a quick counterattack. Thinh Phat's clearance accidentally created an opportunity for Alimov to finish close to the goal, opening the score for the Kyrgyz team.

Not accepting the result, the Vietnamese team rose up and attacked strongly. In the 13th minute, from a very good cross-field combination, Manh Dung fired a powerful long-range shot that defeated Bekbolot to equalize for the Vietnamese team. At the end of the first half, a great opportunity came to Minh Quang after a classy pass from Thai Huy, but he finished very poorly.

In the second half, the game did not change much as the Vietnamese team still dominated the field. Unfortunately, the poor handling of the situation made Duc Hoa and his teammates pay the price once again. In the 24th minute, Sokhrukh surpassed Thai Huy and fired a classy shot to raise the score to 2-1.

With nothing to lose, the Vietnamese team rushed forward to attack in search of an equalizer. Coach Giustozzi applied the power-play tactic. In the 37th minute, from a pass from Van Tien, Manh Dung scored an equalizer for the Vietnamese team, 2-2. The next time the Vietnamese team used the power-play, they paid a heavy price.

In the 39th minute, Anh Duy had a very bad touch, allowing the Kyrgyzstan player to kick the ball into an empty net, raising the score to 3-2. In the 40th minute, Tu Minh Quang's long-range shot hit the post, the Vietnamese team lost to Kyrgyzstan and had to say goodbye to their World Cup dream.
