Mr. Pham Duy Sang, principal of Van Phu Secondary School, Son Duong district, was suspended from his position and work for 15 days, after the incident of students locking and throwing objects at a female teacher in class.

The decision was signed by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Duong district - Mr. Giang Tuan Anh, yesterday. Principal Pham Duy Sang was suspended to "serve verification and clarification of the incident related to the school's teacher management work", starting from December 7.

Three days ago, a nearly two-minute video went viral on social media, recording images of some students of class 7C, Van Phu Secondary School locking their music teacher in the classroom, cursing and throwing things at her. Sometimes, these students held sticks and fans, pointed at her face, and tried to snatch the phone from her hand.

In another video lasting nearly 5 minutes, a group of students cursed a lot and stuffed trash into the teacher’s bag. As the teacher walked from the podium to the classroom door, the group of students threw papers and sandals. A video lasting more than a minute showed the teacher waving her shoes around, chasing students around the classroom, climbing on desks, and throwing sandals at students.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Son Duong district, the incident took place at 10:30 am on November 29. When the music class in class 7C started, some students asked to leave but the teacher did not agree. After that, "a conflict arose between the teacher and the students". After the class ended, the teacher moved to teach class 6A, some students from class 7C went over, cursed, insulted the teacher, recorded a video and posted it on Facebook.

The Ministry of Education and Training assessed that the act of students locking a teacher in the classroom, cursing and throwing things at her was a serious violation of ethics, causing public outrage. Deputy Minister Hoang Minh Son acknowledged that the incident was "very serious and unacceptable", but emphasized the need for an objective and thorough assessment to find a suitable solution.

The Department of Internal Affairs, the Department of Education and Training, and the Son Duong District Police are coordinating to verify and handle the case. The Ministry of Education and Training requested the Provincial People's Committee to announce the results before December 29.
