The 1969 Datsun Fairlady in Hanoi was once offered 1.7 billion VND but the owner did not sell it because he thought it was a car that even with money, he could not buy.
Datsun is a fairly old car brand in the world, having been established in 1914 and is the predecessor of the Nissan car brand from Japan.
However, in Vietnam, Datsun is not a familiar brand to most customers like classic cars from Toyota, Volkswagen or Mercedes-Benz because the number of cars appearing in Vietnam is quite small.
To date, the number of Datsun cars still on the road is even smaller.
Because of the uniqueness of the Datsun line, a car enthusiast in Hanoi has taken the trouble to collect and restore a Datsun of the Fairlady line produced around 1969.
Thanks to the investment of effort, time and money, this 1969 Datsun Fairlady can operate quite stably. At one point, the car was even offered for up to 1.7 billion VND (equivalent to a new SUV).
This 1969 Datsun Fairlady with Hanoi license plate belongs to the 2nd generation of the Datsun Fairlady line with code SP311/SPL311 and this version is considered to have a bold European design when compared with names like MG, Fiat, Triumph or even Alfa Romeo.
The 1969 Datsun Fairlady has a Convertible soft top design with 2 sporty doors and 4 seats inside (2+2 format with the 2nd row of seats quite cramped.) The size of the 1969 Datsun Fairlady is also quite compact with a length of 3,955mm with a long, sporty front end.
The soft top is made of vinyl and fabric and can be opened and closed via a lever inside the car. In addition, the reverse-opening hood is also a very European feature of the 1969 Datsun Fairlady.
The car is equipped with a 1.6L naturally aspirated engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. Thanks to that, the Datsun Fairlady 1969 can produce a maximum capacity of 88 horsepower and a maximum torque of 132 Nm.
However, the current owner of the car has replaced the car's manual transmission with a Toyota 4-speed automatic transmission. According to the owner, using a Toyota transmission will help the car operate stably, durably, cost-effectively and be easier to renovate.
The interior of the car retains its nostalgic lines with a mechanical clock displaying speed, engine rpm, water temperature, and oil pressure. The owner also invested in reupholstering the car's interior with leather.
The steering wheel is also replaced with a classic 3-spoke wooden steering wheel by Nardi, adding to the car's nostalgia.
A modern detail that appears inside the 1969 Datsun Fairlady is the entertainment cluster with bluetooth connection and Pioneer speakers. This can help the car owner to be better entertained during the trips.
