On the morning of November 8, continuing the program of the 6th Session of the 15th National Assembly, National Assembly deputies questioned Government members and heads of sectors on the implementation of a number of resolutions of the 14th National Assembly and from the beginning of the 15th National Assembly's term to the end of the 4th Session on thematic supervision and questioning in the fields of science and technology; education and training; culture, sports and tourism; health; labor, war invalids and social affairs; information and communications.

Delegate Nguyen Ngoc Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment, questioned Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh about tourism.

"Tourism is one of the three key economic sectors, sustainable tourism development is a necessary factor to bring success as well as benefits in the future. In recent times, the tourism industry has achieved remarkable results but there are still many limitations leading to not fully exploiting the available potential and advantages to develop sustainable tourism associated with preserving and promoting cultural values ​​and protecting the environment. I request the Prime Minister to inform us of specific orientations and solutions in the coming time, especially the overall assessment of existing potential and advantages and solutions to ensure resources in terms of resources, capital, science and technology, human resources, soft resources, and a feasible and synchronous legal policy system," questioned delegate Nguyen Ngoc Son.

Responding to questions, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam's tourism resources are very rich in terms of historical traditions, culture, landscape, environment, especially the advantage of long coastline; Vietnamese people are friendly and hospitable... However, the Prime Minister also admitted that the tourism potential has not been fully exploited, and has not developed commensurate with the potential and strengths as expected by the people and voters nationwide.

"There are both objective and subjective causes, but in my opinion, the subjective ones are the main ones. In fact, the solutions suggested by delegates are the causes," Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh answered the question.

Regarding solutions in the coming time, the Prime Minister affirmed to continue to effectively implement, institutionalize, and concretize the Party's policies and guidelines through laws, in which tourism is identified as a spearhead economic sector. Second, focusing on leadership, direction, and clearly identifying the development focus. Third, preparing resources, fourth, human resources to meet the requirements of international integration. Fifth, there is synchronous and close coordination among all levels and sectors.
