The 99-turn road leading to China's most famous Heaven's Gate

Tianmen Mountain, also known as "Heaven's Gate", is one of the most famous mountains in China. Located on the top of Tianshan Mountain in Hunan Province, Tianmen Mountain is only about 8km north of Zhangjiajie city center. It is part of Tianmen-Zhangjiajie National Park and was built in 1998, but was only completed in 2006.

The road to Tianmen Mountain is 11km long with 99 dangerous bends, known as one of the most difficult roads to conquer. This road is really only for those who love adventure and have good driving skills.

This place was once considered one of the most dangerous roads in the world by Dangerous Road magazine. You can drive your motorbike through the difficult mountain passes and climb to the "heaven's gate" after overcoming 999 steps. However, if you are not confident in your driving ability, you can also travel by cable car with 98 cabins with a total length of up to 7,455m.

Arriving at Thien Mon Mountain, we can see that this place is truly favored by nature with high, winding mountain slopes, winding roads, and dense forests.

According to many sources, the "heavenly gate" was formed after a great flood collapsed the limestone on the mountain, creating a dome shape and since then, this place has been called Thien Mon.

Seen from above, Thien Mon Mountain looks like a majestic and mighty dragon with winding lines. With the temperature decreasing as you go closer to the "heavenly gate" and always covered by clouds, the scenery here makes visitors feel like they are lost in a fairyland.
