On the afternoon of April 22, Mr. Nguyen Tuong Duy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Son District, Quang Ngai, said that he had assigned the district's Department of Education and Training to clarify information circulating on Facebook related to a daughter accusing her father, the principal, of beating his wife.

Accordingly, on the morning of April 11, a video of a man beating a woman was circulated on Facebook. Netizens recognized the man as Mr. Dang Xuan Hien, Principal of Binh Chuong Primary and Secondary School.

This information comes from a personal Facebook page named DN, along with a video and a long status line accusing his father of adultery and abusing his wife and children.

"Under the threats and abuse of my father (Mr. Hien), my mother, brother and I have endured and endured for the past 3 years, but today, witnessed by many people, my father rushed out to beat my mother. I really cannot endure any longer," Ms. N. wrote on Facebook.

At the same time, Ms. N.'s status also mentioned the incident of the principal abusing and beating his wife and children starting 3 years ago, when the family discovered Mr. Hien was having an affair right at Ms. T.'s house (currently a kindergarten teacher). After the incident, although the family advised and hoped that Mr. Hien would do it for the family, he continued to curse and beat his wife and children for no reason.

The authorities have verified and confirmed that the DN social media account is Mr. Hien’s daughter. At the same time, during the initial working session with the authorities of Binh Son district, Mr. Hien admitted to beating his wife. The reason he gave was that he was angry.

"There is abuse, but there is no basis to verify the information about adultery," said Mr. Duy.

The status has now been removed from social media by Mr. Hien’s daughter. However, the People’s Committee of Binh Son district has assigned the relevant authorities to continue investigating and handling the case.

The incident of the principal abusing and beating his wife spread on social media, causing negative impacts on the education sector. Currently, Mr. Hien continues to hold the position of principal while waiting for the conclusion of the handling.

To stabilize teaching and learning at school, the District People's Committee requested the school's board of directors to hold a meeting with the school's pedagogical council to announce the incident and the handling direction of the competent authority, so as not to affect teaching and learning, the thoughts of students and parents.

Regarding Mr. Hien's explanation, Mr. Duy said it was not satisfactory and is asking Mr. Hien to rewrite the self-criticism and explanation report.

"After the verification is concluded, the District Party Committee and District People's Committee will have a plan to handle both the Party and the government. Not to mention adultery, violence and beating of the wife is unacceptable. Especially since Mr. Hien is the principal," said Mr. Duy.
