US President-elect Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, has just announced her decision to withdraw from the list of candidates for the position of Republican Senator representing the state of Florida, replacing Senator Marco Rubio, who was nominated by Mr. Trump to hold the position of Secretary of State.

On social network X, Ms. Lara Trump said: “After much consideration and support, I have decided to withdraw my name from the list of nominees for the US Senate. I remain passionate about public service and look forward to serving the country again in the future. During this time, I wish Governor DeSantis the best in choosing the right person to entrust his gold to."

Earlier this month, Lara, wife of Eric Trump, the President-elect's son, said she would step down as co-chair of the Republican National Convention (RNC), which she has held since March 2024.

During her time at the RNC, Lara expressed interest in working in another capacity, fueling speculation that she could continue serving in the Senate.
