National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man leaves for official visit to the Russian Federation

At the invitation of Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin and Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko, on the morning of September 8, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man led a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to leave Hanoi for an official visit to the Russian Federation and co-chair the 3rd meeting of the Vietnam-Russia Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee from September 8-10, 2024.

The delegation accompanying National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man included: Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh, Chairman of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Parliamentarians' Group; Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, Chairman of the Vietnam Subcommittee of the Vietnam-Russia Intergovernmental Committee on Economic-Trade and Scientific-Technological Cooperation; Secretary General of the National Assembly, Chairman of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong; Chairman of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha; Chairman of the National Assembly's Culture and Education Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh; Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh; Chairman of the National Assembly's Science, Technology and Environment Committee Le Quang Huy; Chairman of the National Assembly's Defense and Security Committee Le Tan Toi; Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi; Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan; Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, Deputy Minister of Defense; Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Vietnamese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Dang Minh Khoi.

The delegation also included leaders of National Assembly agencies; leaders of a number of departments, ministries, branches and localities.

This is the first official visit to the Russian Federation by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man in his capacity as Chairman of the National Assembly and also the first visit to the Russian Federation by a key leader of the Party and State of Vietnam in 2024; right after the visit to Vietnam by Russian President Putin in June 2024.

The visit is one of the practical and effective activities to concretize the Joint Statement on deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership on the basis of 30 years of implementing the Treaty on the fundamental principles of Vietnam-Russia friendship, agreed upon by the leaders of the two countries during President Putin's visit to Vietnam; as well as the content on the orientation to promote cooperation discussed and agreed upon between General Secretary and President To Lam and President Putin in the phone call on August 8, 2024.

The visit significantly contributes to promoting and strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in general, and the close and good cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the State Duma and the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Parliament in particular.
