Removing the duties of National Assembly deputies of Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh and Chau Van Lam

Secretary General of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong said the decision of the National Assembly Standing Committee was based on the Constitution, the Law on Organization of the National Assembly, legal regulations and opinions of competent agencies. Previously, the two men had submitted a request to resign from their duties as National Assembly deputies.

Ten days ago, the Party Central Committee unanimously agreed to let Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, former Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee, Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Ha Giang Province, and Mr. Chau Van Lam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Tuyen Quang Provincial Party Committee, Head of the 15th National Assembly Delegation of Tuyen Quang Province, cease to hold the position of member of the 13th Party Central Committee.

Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh and Chau Van Lam were determined to have violated Party regulations in performing their assigned duties and tasks, violating regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do, the responsibility to set an example, and regulations on preventing and combating corruption and negativity. Fully aware of their responsibilities to the Party and the people, the two men submitted a request to resign from their assigned positions.

Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh, 48 years old, from Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province, is a PhD in Urban and Construction Management, a civil and industrial construction engineer. Mr. Khanh used to be the Director of the Department of Construction, Secretary of Nghi Xuan district, and Vice Chairman of the province. In 2016, when he took office as Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province at the age of 40, he was the youngest provincial chairman in the country. In July 2019, the Politburo assigned him to the position of Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee. In May 2023, he was approved by the National Assembly to be appointed as Minister of Natural Resources and Environment for the 2021-2026 term.

Mr. Chau Van Lam is 57 years old, from Tuyen Quang. After 4 years working in the Youth Union, Mr. Lam became Vice Chairman of Na Hang district at the age of 29. He then worked for many years in Tuyen Quang, holding the positions of Director of the Department of Planning and Investment; Vice Chairman, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. From May 2015 to present, he has held the position of Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.

Since the beginning of the term (2021) up to now, the National Assembly has dismissed 3 deputies and dismissed 12 deputies. The total number of deputies of the 15th National Assembly is currently 484.
