Apple CEO Tim Cook arrived in Hanoi early this morning and is expected to meet with a number of Vietnamese content creators and programmers.
Tim Cook traveled by private plane and stayed at a 5-star hotel. According to the plan, he will have a quite busy schedule on April 15-16.
During the CEO’s visit, Apple also announced a renewed commitment to Vietnam. The company said it would increase spending on suppliers, along with new progress on its clean water initiative for local schools. Apple has spent nearly VND400 trillion ($17.6 billion) since 2019 through its local supply chain and has more than doubled its annual spending in Vietnam over the same period.
Over the past year, Apple has shown its favor to the Vietnamese market by continuously introducing new services. The company opened the Apple Store Online in May 2023, deployed the Apple Pay payment service in August 2023, and recently introduced a detailed map-capturing car system in February to support advanced features of Apple Maps. The company also expanded its search for personnel by posting a job posting for a Siri language engineer in the field of machine learning and AI to support the Vietnamese market.
Tim Cook was born in 1960 and joined Apple in March 1998 as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations and later Executive Vice President. He was appointed CEO of Apple in August 2011.
After taking the top role, Tim Cook quickly demonstrated his leadership ability by helping Apple double its revenue and profit from 2011 to 2020. By 2023, Apple became the first company in the world to reach a market capitalization of $3,000 billion. Under Tim Cook, Apple launched completely new technology products such as the Apple Watch and Vision Pro virtual reality glasses.
