Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha agreed to adjust the Master Plan for the development of the national airport and seaport system to add Gia Binh Airport to the plan.
Specifically, in Document No. 93/TTg-CN, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha agreed to the policy of adjusting the Master Plan for the development of the national airport and seaport system for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, to add Gia Binh Airport to the plan in a shortened order as proposed by the Ministry of Transport, the opinions of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
The Ministry of Transport urgently establishes, supplements and approves the planning adjustment in accordance with the procedures and processes prescribed by law on planning, ensuring the progress of completing the investment in phase 2 of Gia Binh Airport in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister in Notice No. 562/TB-VPCP dated December 18, 2024 of the Government Office.
The Deputy Prime Minister authorized the Minister of Transport to decide on adjusting the Master Plan for the development of the dry port system for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, in accordance with the process, procedures and regulations to consider and supplement the dry port at Gia Binh Airport, ensuring synchronization with the progress of Gia Binh Airport implementation.
* It is known that the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province has recently proposed that the Prime Minister consider approving the update and addition of Gia Binh Airport to the Master Plan for the development of the national airport system for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
According to the proposal, Gia Binh Airport has a scale and level of a level 4E airport; the planned capacity is expected to transport 1 - 3 million passengers/year (with a reserve for expansion to meet the capacity of about 5 million passengers/year); transport 250,000 - 1,000,000 million tons of goods/year (with a reserve for expansion to meet the capacity of 1.5 to 2 million tons of goods/year).
The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province proposed to plan additional airport area projects based on the utilization of infrastructure built by the Ministry of Public Security; plan additional aircraft parking lots to serve passenger and cargo transportation; plan passenger terminals, cargo terminals, logistics areas and build synchronous technical infrastructure.
The total investment of Gia Binh Airport Project is estimated at about 31,300 billion VND.
Along with the Ministry of Public Security immediately implementing research on investment in the construction of Gia Binh airport phase 2 to reach level 4E airport to ensure the operation of special flights serving Party and State leaders, international politicians on aircraft types A320, A350-900, B787-9...; transporting goods and passengers when needed, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province has been proactively deploying resources and conditions to organize the implementation of site clearance for the entire airport when the investment policy for construction phase 2 is approved by the Prime Minister.
In addition, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province has proactively developed and completed the Project to study the possibility of forming Gia Binh Airport, in the direction of converting Gia Binh specialized airport into Gia Binh Airport and updating and adding Gia Binh Airport to the master plan for the development of the national airport system in the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province said that in order to increase the investment efficiency of the Project, taking advantage of the airport infrastructure being invested in and built, the establishment of Gia Binh Airport to serve the transportation of passengers and goods, ensuring both security and defense, and ensuring the socio-economic development of the locality is necessary.
