On October 28, Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company held a ceremony to announce the inauguration of Phu My Dry Port at Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park, Phu My town, Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
This is the first dry port invested in and put into operation in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province and the third dry port in the Southern region.
At the announcement ceremony, representatives of the Maritime Administration and the General Department of Customs presented the decision to open a dry port and a customs clearance location for goods to Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company.
Phu My ICD signed a cooperation agreement to open an empty container depot with MSC, the world's number 1 shipping line; established a joint venture with Medlog, a provider of integrated logistics services in 70 countries around the world; cooperated with Saigon Newport Corporation in the transit of goods between Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park and seaports, ICDs and Depots in the region and signed a contract in principle with 12 other partners.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director of Vietnam Maritime Administration Nguyen Dinh Viet said Phu My Dry Port is the most modern and methodical investment today.
The early operation of the port will create conditions for the Cai Mep-Thi Vai seaport to quickly release goods, reduce pressure on wharves and yards, increase the ability to clear goods, and contribute to improving the efficiency of seaport exploitation.
Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province Nguyen Cong Vinh stated that the operation of Phu My dry port will be an "extended arm" of the Cai Mep-Thi Vai port cluster and an important premise, creating a turning point for the strong development of port logistics services in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in the future.
Phu My dry port has a total area of about 38 hectares, a total investment of more than 2,992 billion VND, divided into 2 investment phases; of which, phase 1 is 15 hectares, which has been announced by the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Maritime Administration to open a dry port in August 2023; the Ministry of Finance and the General Department of Customs have recognized it as a place for customs clearance of goods; the Prime Minister has added it to the planning for the development of Vietnam's dry port system for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, with a total area of up to 40 hectares, and a cargo capacity of 300,000-400,000 TEU.
