Hai Duong rowers win 15 gold medals at Southeast Asian Canoeing Championship

Coach Le Thi Van (Hai Duong rowing team) said that in the canoeing event, Hai Duong has 3 coaches and 13 athletes participating in the national teams.

In the canoeing event from July 4-7, Hai Duong rowers competed excellently, contributing 15 gold medals, 9 silver medals and 8 bronze medals to the national teams. All 13 Hai Duong athletes won medals, including 9 rowers winning gold medals. In particular, Pham Hong Quan of Hai Duong competed exceptionally well, winning 5 gold medals, including 1 individual, 2 pair and 2 quadruple boat gold medals.

In the rowing and canoeing events, Hai Duong has 7 coaches and 22 athletes in the Vietnamese teams. In the previous rowing event, Hai Duong coaches and athletes won a total of 12 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. In both rowing and canoeing events, Hai Duong contributed 27 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 10 bronze medals to the teams.

This result of the Hai Duong athletes and coaches contributed to the overall achievements of the Vietnamese rowing teams. At the end of the tournament, host Vietnam with 252 athletes ranked first in the overall group with 58 gold medals, 53 silver medals and 33 bronze medals. Thailand and Singapore ranked second and third in the overall group, respectively.

The U19, U23 and Southeast Asian championships in rowing and canoeing have 6 participating teams with nearly 200 rowers from 6 teams: Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam.
