On the morning of November 13, the Hai Phong Department of Culture and Sports coordinated with the National Rowing Federation to open the 2023 National Rowing and Canoeing Championship.
In her opening speech, Ms. Pham Thi To Trang, Deputy Director of the Hai Phong Department of Culture and Sports, said that rowing is a sport that is developing widely throughout the country. Recently, at the Southeast Asian and Asian Championships, the Vietnam National Rowing Team has achieved many high achievements.
The 2023 National Rowing and Canoeing Championship is an opportunity for provinces, cities and sectors across the country to compete and affirm their position, thereby discovering and adding athletes with outstanding achievements to the national team to participate in upcoming international competitions. Through the tournament, the aim is to test, evaluate capacity and improve management and competition organization in localities.
Ms. Pham Thi To Trang requested that relevant units and members of the Organizing Committee coordinate closely, ensure safety, and create all favorable conditions for the tournament to achieve the highest results. The referees will run the tournament accurately and objectively, the athletes will compete with all their might, and strictly follow the rules, regulations, and rules of the Organizing Committee.
The tournament took place from November 9-21 with the participation of 450 athletes from 30 delegations from provinces, cities and industries across the country.
Before that, athletes competed in a number of distances. After the qualifying rounds, on November 13, the finals and medals were awarded for the distances W2-, LM4X, LM2-, LW1X, M2X, LW4-; the finals and medals were awarded for the distances W2X, MIX, LW2-, M4-, LW4X, LM2X, W4- on November 14.
