On March 3 and 4, in Vung Tau City (Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province), the Department of Employment (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) organized a workshop on labor market information to serve the analysis and forecast of labor demand.
The workshop was attended by representatives of relevant units of the ministry, domestic and international experts, and employment service centers of 63 provinces and cities.
At the workshop, Dr. Vu Trong Binh, Director of the Department of Employment, said that labor market information is very important for the Government, localities, training institutions, businesses and workers, so building a database is very necessary.
The Department is currently developing and recommending that localities also implement it soon. Localities need to soon establish job exchanges to centralize and connect information, and at the same time build a cooperation mechanism with international organizations, schools, and experts to build a database on the labor market to ensure reliability, while promoting the effectiveness of these databases.
According to Dr. Vu Trong Binh, the construction and digitization of the labor market database will help all levels and sectors from central to local levels, agencies and units effectively manage the labor market; grasp supply-demand, fluctuations for analysis and close forecasting; reasonably develop employment policies, support policies, plans, solutions, as well as incentive mechanisms for business and private sector development...
Businesses need to grasp this to have a plan to build management skills, job size, consolidate and improve labor quality and workers need to know their needs and suitable jobs.
The workshop was divided into 4 sessions with a total of 20 presentations by domestic and foreign experts, managers, and employment service centers on topics including the need and use of information on labor/skills needs in Vietnam; international experience on the need and use of information on labor/skills needs and recommendations for Vietnam; international experience on exploiting and using big data on online job positions; user needs on the system for exploiting and providing big data on online job positions in Vietnam (OJV system).
