During the 5-day holiday of April 30 and May 1, provincial hospitals in Hai Duong provided emergency care and treatment to thousands of patients, many of whom were traffic accident victims.
From April 27 to noon on May 1, the Provincial General Hospital examined, provided emergency care, and treated about 1,050 patients, including over 80 cases of traffic accidents.
Master, Doctor Kieu Xuan Viet, Deputy Head of Department of Surgery II, Provincial General Hospital said that compared to the same period of April 30 and May 1 last year, the number of patients who had accidents and had to be hospitalized for emergency treatment increased by about 10% due to the long holiday this year. Some patients had consumed alcohol before the traffic accident and had to undergo emergency surgery.
The most serious case is that of Mr. Hoang Ngoc P. (24 years old, from Ha Giang province). On April 30, Mr. P. attended a party, drank alcohol with a group of friends working at the same company, then rode a motorbike and collided with a car. He was taken to the provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment by the traffic police. At the time of emergency treatment, this patient was in a deep coma, with multiple injuries, traumatic brain injury, cervical vertebrae, fractures of the posterior spines C2, C3, C4, epidural hematoma, skull fracture in the parietal region..., with a high mortality rate. The medical team of Department of Surgery II urgently consulted, performed endotracheal intubation and emergency surgery. Mr. P. is currently out of danger but is still in a coma and requires a ventilator.
During the same period, Hai Duong Lung Hospital received 254 patients for examination, of which 91 were hospitalized due to respiratory diseases, 52 severe cases requiring oxygen, ventilators...
During the 5-day holiday, Hai Duong Children's Hospital received about 250 inpatients with respiratory diseases, flu, hand-foot-mouth disease... 3 serious patients had to be transferred to a higher level.
From April 27 to noon on May 1, Hai Duong Obstetrics Hospital received about 220 patients, including 109 births. There were 28 babies born on April 30.
During the 5-day holiday, provincial hospitals in Hai Duong maintained 4-level on-call duty. Professional activities were basically carried out as usual, without any special incidents.
