On April 30, there were 61 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 27 people and injuring 45. All of these accidents occurred on roads, there were no accidents on railways and waterways. The information was released by the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee.

Notably, during the holiday, two serious traffic accidents occurred on the night of April 29 and early morning of April 30. At 11:15 p.m. on April 29, on National Highway 2A in Bo Sao Commune, Vinh Tuong District, Vinh Phuc Province, a tractor-trailer with license plate 15H-001.52 pulling a trailer, driven by Dong Van Dang (born in 1983), residing in Kim Thanh, Hai Duong, collided with a motorcycle without a license plate driven by two teenagers, whose drivers are unknown, including Tran Khac Trung (born in 2007), Do Van Binh (born in 2008); both residing in Bo Sao Commune, were traveling in the opposite direction.
The accident resulted in Trung and Binh dying at the hospital. After the accident, the driver left the scene. Local police are searching for the driver to investigate and resolve the matter.
At 3:05 a.m. on April 30, on National Highway 25 in Chu Se town, Chu Se district, Gia Lai province, a passenger car of Quoc Cuong carrying 38 people, with license plate 47B-020.26, driven by Dinh Van Hung (born in 1972), residing in Dak Lak province, was traveling in the direction of Da Nang - Dak Lak. At the above location, it collided with a passenger car of Co Hai carrying 30 people, with license plate 51B-294.89, driven by Mr. Nguyen Cong Dan (born in 1977), residing in An Khe, Gia Lai province, traveling in the opposite direction.
The accident killed 1 person (on the Co Hai bus), injured 5 people and 6 people suffered minor injuries (all passengers of the 2 buses). The passengers were taken to Gia Lai General Hospital for treatment, then 6 people were discharged. Test results showed that both drivers had no alcohol concentration, were negative for drugs, and both had driver's licenses. The local police are investigating and handling the case.
Data from the journey monitoring device of the Cô Hai passenger van shows that the speed of the passenger van with license plate 51B-294.89 when arriving at this intersection at 3:01:14 was 86km/h, at 3:01:24 was 83km/h, and at 3:01:34 was 84km/h. Meanwhile, the Quốc Cường passenger van with license plate 47B-020.26 did not have the required journey monitoring data.
According to a report from the Office of the Ministry of Public Security, on April 30, the national traffic police force handled 17,095 cases of violations of road traffic order and safety; issued fines totaling over VND38 billion; revoked 3,419 driving licenses of all types; and temporarily detained 170 cars, 6,566 motorbikes and 118 other vehicles.
Of these, there were 4,390 cases of alcohol concentration violations, 4,913 cases of speed violations, 113 cases of overloading, 51 cases of oversize violations, 6 cases of unauthorized vehicle modifications, and 15 cases of drug violations.
There were also 157 violations of inland waterway traffic order and safety and 6 violations on railways. The authorities decided to impose a fine of 146 million VND.
On April 30, there were 3 calls and messages from people to the hotline of the National Traffic Safety Committee, reflecting on the local congestion situation at some tourist spots. The calls were forwarded to the authorities for verification and timely handling.
