The song "No More", lyrics by Dao Thi Phuong Phuc, former President of the Women's Union of Hai Duong province, music by Ho Tung won 3rd prize in the contest to compose songs praising Vietnamese women and mothers.
On the evening of October 7, the Vietnam Women's Union, in coordination with the Union of Literature and Arts Associations and the Vietnam Musicians Association, held an award ceremony for the Songwriting Contest praising Vietnamese women and mothers.
The song "No More", lyrics by Dao Thi Phuong Phuc, former President of the Women's Union of Hai Duong province, music by Ho Tung won 3rd prize in the contest.
The song "No More" truly depicts the warm moments of a child in the arms of his parents, the beautiful memories of childhood. But the Covid-19 pandemic has come, taking everything away from him, taking his parents away from him forever. He no longer has the warm love of his parents, everything has become memories, he is now an orphan. Then his godmother came to him, supported him, lit up hope to warm his life... He no longer has sadness.
Sharing about her winning work, Ms. Dao Thi Phuong Phuc said that in response to the contest with two themes including praising Vietnamese women and godmothers, she chose to write lyrics about godmothers. When writing, she imagined how unfortunate the orphans were when they didn't have a godmother, and how their lives would change when they had a godmother. That was a big change in the lives of orphans. She was very happy that her work won the contest.
The songwriting contest praising Vietnamese women and mothers is launched by the Vietnam Women's Union in collaboration with the Union of Literature and Arts Associations and the Vietnam Musicians Association. The submission period is from January 5, 2024 to July 31, 2024.
The content of the works focuses on praising the feelings of Vietnamese women and mothers for their families, their homeland and their country. Praising the traditional qualities (heroic, indomitable, loyal, and responsible), and the new-age qualities (self-confidence, self-respect, knowledge, health, morality, and responsibility) of Vietnamese women. Especially praising the modern qualities of women who are full of courage in all areas of life, actively contributing to the development of the community, society, and country; dynamic, sensitive to new things but still preserving traditional features, fulfilling the role of a mother in the new context.
In addition, these works also especially praise and honor the mothers participating in the "Godmother" Program with tolerance, sharing, and responsibility for social issues in the post-Covid-19 period, who have adopted orphans in difficult circumstances.
After 7 months of launching, the Organizing Committee received 611 works from 438 authors including many professional and non-professional musicians. The works were carefully invested in content, ensuring the criteria of the contest, having high artistic value, expressing the good qualities of Vietnamese women and mothers in many different areas of life, highlighting the representative image of Vietnamese women in the new era.
In the end, the Organizing Committee awarded a total of 28 prizes in the categories of Vietnamese women/mothers and godmothers. Of which, the work "Phoenix Wings", lyrics by Nguyen Anh Tu - Bui Xuan Truong, music by Nguyen Anh Tu won first prize in the category of Vietnamese women/mothers.
