The new draw results of the C1 Cup - Champions League bring fans many top matches between top European teams.
The draw for the 2024-2025 Champions League took place on the evening of August 29. From this season, the tournament will switch to a new format with 36 participating teams. According to the draw results, fans will witness many matches between strong teams right in the first classification stage.
Real Madrid will play Liverpool, AC Milan, Dortmund. Man City will face Inter Milan, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain. Bayern Munich will face PSG, Barcelona... The clubs in the strongest seed group will play 2-3 strong opponents from the top 5 European leagues.
The luckiest teams according to the draw results were Celtic, Sturm Graz. The two underrated teams drew a list of opponents that did not include any champions of Europe's top 5 leagues.
Teams are not drawn into groups as in the old format. Instead, each team will play eight matches against randomly selected opponents from the "seeded" groups. All 36 clubs will compare their results in a single overall ranking.
The top 24 teams advance to the knockout stage, with teams ranked 9-16 playing a play-off round against teams ranked 17-24. The top eight teams advance directly to the round of 16, where they will face clubs that have passed the play-off round.
Knockout matches are played over two legs (home-away).
