According to Vietnamnet November 14, 2023 19:40

The Ministry of Education and Training has just reported a draft plan for organizing exams and recognizing high school graduation from 2025 to Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.

It is known that in the draft, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) said that it has asked for opinions from localities and experts on the number of subjects suitable for the 2023 high school graduation exam according to 3 options: 4+2, 3+3 and 2+2.

The Ministry of Education and Training said that based on objective analysis, comments from the Departments of Education and Training and based on the core principles in the process of developing the Exam Plan, the Ministry of Education and Training recommends and proposes the High School Graduation Exam from 2025 according to the plan: Each candidate takes 4 subjects (Option 2+2), including: Compulsory exams in Literature, Mathematics and can choose 2 subjects in grade 12 (Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology, Technology).

The reason for organizing exams according to this plan is: Reducing exam pressure for students, reducing costs for their families and society;

Do not create an imbalance between choosing social sciences or natural sciences.

At the same time, for the 9 subjects that candidates are selected to take the exam, these subjects have been tested, evaluated, and have scores shown on the transcript; during the teaching process, students have been assessed comprehensively in the learning process, during the teaching process in class. Being able to choose 2 subjects out of these 9 subjects (with 36 different selection methods) creates conditions for candidates to choose the exam subject that is suitable for their career orientation, abilities and interests, conditions and circumstances to continue studying, learning a trade or participating in working life.

Ministry of Education and Training proposes 2025 high school graduation exam with 2 compulsory subjects

Previously, in the report on the development of a plan to organize the high school graduation exam from 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training presented its opinion on a survey in Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, Tay Ninh, Lang Son and Bac Giang. In addition to the two previously proposed plans, there were many additional suggestions onOption 2+2.

Specifically, candidates studying the high school program and the high school continuing education program must take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects: Math, Literature and 2 subjects that candidates choose from the remaining subjects studied in grade 12, including Foreign Language and History.

As a result, 17,981 cadres and teachers participated in giving their opinions. Of these, nearly 60% choseOption 2+2exam

According to the Ministry of Education and Training,Option 2+2The advantage is that it reduces exam pressure for students and reduces costs for students' families and society (candidates only take 4 subjects, currently 6 subjects). The number of exam sessions is also reduced by a few sessions compared to present.

In addition, this also does not cause an imbalance between the admission combinations, suitable for students' career orientation, creating conditions for students to spend time studying subjects of their choice that are suitable for their career orientation.

Candidates can choose 2 optional subjects to take the exam to help them develop their strengths, creating favorable conditions for candidates to use the high school graduation exam results to consider university admission. However, the disadvantage is that it affects the teaching and learning of History and Foreign Languages, these two subjects are currently compulsory.

Candidates studying the GDTX program (this group of candidates does not have to take the compulsory Foreign Language subject) must take 5 subjects, including 3 compulsory subjects (Literature, Math, History) and 2 subjects that candidates choose from the remaining subjects studied in grade 12.

Option 2,Choice 3+2,Candidates must take 5 subjects, including 3 compulsory subjects (Literature, Math, Foreign Language) and 2 subjects that candidates choose from the remaining subjects studied in grade 12 (including History).

Candidates studying the GDTX program (this group of candidates does not have to take the compulsory Foreign Language subject) must take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects (Literature, Math) and 2 subjects that candidates choose from the remaining subjects studied in grade 12.
