In the first week, US Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign received a huge amount of support, about two-thirds of the amount of money that Republican opponent Donald Trump's campaign received in the entire second quarter.
In a post on social network X on July 28, Deputy Executive Director of Kamala Harris's election campaign, Mr. Rob Flaherty, said that the US Vice President's campaign has only been launched for a week, but has received $200 million in contributions, 66% of which came from new contributors. In addition, there are also 170,000 new volunteers joining Harris's election campaign.
According to observers, this is considered a very large and extremely impressive number when US Vice President Kamala Harris has just replaced US President Joe Biden to confront Republican candidate Donald Trump.
Earlier in July, former US President Donald Trump's election campaign said it had raised $331 million in contributions in the second quarter of 2024.
After Mr. Biden withdrew from the race on July 21 and endorsed his “vice president,” Ms. Harris, the first woman of color and the first Asian American to hold the position of vice president, received the support of the majority of delegates attending the Democratic National Convention, thereby almost certainly becoming the official candidate of this party in the race to the White House in 2024.
On July 26, Ms. Harris signed the forms, officially filing for the 2024 White House race with the statement: "I will work hard to win every vote. And this November, our campaign based on people power will win."
In a statement released on July 25 as she stepped off Air Force Two at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, Harris announced that she was ready to debate Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
