The Overseas Labor Center is recruiting workers to go to Australia to work in slaughtering and processing meat according to Halal standards, with a monthly salary of about 60 million VND.
On December 23, the Overseas Labor Center (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) announced that the recruitment of workers will be carried out in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries to support Vietnamese workers to work in the agricultural sector in Australia.
The first order is for 30 workers to do Halal slaughtering and meat processing. The contract is for 4 years. The Australian company wants to recruit 15 Muslim workers for Halal slaughtering positions and will be trained in this practice, the remaining 15 for meat processing positions.
The term Halal in Islam refers to a product or action that is permissible for Muslims. Muslims follow strict Halal food standards, especially when it comes to meat. They are not allowed to use products derived from pork, lard or carnivorous animals. Herbivores are only considered Halal if they are slaughtered properly, fed a natural diet, and do not contain products made from other animals.
The general criteria of the program apply to workers aged 21 years or older at the time of visa application, in good health, with no disabilities or handicaps that affect mobility.
Applicants must achieve a minimum English score in one of the following formats: IELTS overall score of 4.0 unless Australia has a higher standard; PTE Academe total score of at least 30 across all four components or CAE total score of at least 147 across all four components. This test must be taken at a registered test centre, no home or online test results will be accepted.
The validity of the English test result certificate for workers with IELTS below 5.0 or PTE Academic below 36/90 points; CAE below 154/210 points is 12 months; for those with scores equal to or higher than the above level, it is 24 months.
In addition to the general standards, the meat processing company in Australia in this order sets some higher requirements. Specifically, candidates must be 21-35 years old, physically able to carry 15-30 kg; some positions are exposed to 10-35 degrees Celsius; a vocational certificate is not required but is an advantage.
Workers will start at a level 1 position with a base salary of more than AUD 26.50 (1 AUD = 15,900 VND) per hour, a minimum of 38 hours per week and paid weekly. Overtime is considered a "regular part of the business" and workers will work overtime when required.
For qualified candidates, the company will pay a minimum of 300 AUD for airfare and selection fees. Workers will have to pay for English language courses if needed, accommodation and travel expenses before departure; transportation costs to the workplace in Australia; fees for applying for a temporary work visa, passport, health check; and some fees according to the regulations of this country.
In case the enterprise accepts a request for compensation for damage caused by the worker to the sending party, the Overseas Labor Center will ask the candidate to introduce a contract guarantor before departure.
Receiving only on December 24, this Center received 50 applications from candidates and will evaluate them, if necessary, conduct interviews for preliminary selection. The selection of successful workers will be decided by the Australian business.
The Overseas Labor Center said that it does not conduct transactions, provide information, or provide consultation on social networks and recommends that workers directly submit their applications to the headquarters or the provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs, and be cautious of those who claim to be brokers impersonating workers to work in Australia to avoid losing money.
