On the morning of January 29 (January 8), at Chu Van An Temple, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Chi Linh City solemnly held the opening ceremony of the Spring of Quy Mao 2023.

At the beginning of the ceremony, in a solemn atmosphere, the sacrificial team offered incense and read a eulogy to commemorate the merits and pay tribute to the great teacher of Vietnamese Confucianism - Master Chu Van An.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Chi Linh City Nguyen Van Kien emphasized that writing the first words of spring is a practical act showing respect for the values ​​of the position and career of "the eternal teacher" Chu Van An, of the ancestors in the history of the nation. This activity demonstrates the tradition and morality of drinking water, remembering the source, respecting teachers and valuing education of the Vietnamese people. Over many generations, the custom of writing the first words of spring has been respected and preserved by generations of Vietnamese people and has become an intangible cultural heritage value that has the power to spread and last forever with the nation.

The teacher of the world - teacher Chu Van An (1292-1370) was born in Quang Liet village, Thanh Dam district (now Van village, Thanh Liet commune, Thanh Tri district (Hanoi). From a young age, Chu Van An was famous for being an upright person, maintaining his integrity, not seeking fame or fortune, loving to read books and self-study. Chu Van An passed the Thai Hoc Sinh exam but did not become an official but opened a school to teach. He had great contributions in promoting and forming Confucian ethics and ideology with Vietnamese identity. He was famous for his profound knowledge and pure heart, uprightness, and noble morality, and was admired and respected by everyone. Chu Van An was invited by King Tran Minh Tong to be the Vice-Rector of the Imperial Academy, teaching the crown prince and children of officials. During the reign of King Du Tong, he saw that powerful officials were doing many immoral things, so he submitted a petition to behead seven corrupt officials, but the king did not listen, so he returned his robes and hats, suspended his seal, and resigned from office.

At the ceremony, calligrapher Nguyen Dinh Ke, on behalf of the Hai Duong Calligraphy - Han Nom Club, performed the opening strokes of the words "Quoc - Thai - Dan - An". Central and local delegates opened the national language.

On this occasion, to encourage the students' spirit of studying hard, the Organizing Committee awarded 21 excellent students of Chi Linh City and Thanh Tri District (Hanoi). Each award was 5 million VND, taken from the Chi Linh City's Scholarship Fund. 6 enterprises donated 800 million VND to the Chi Linh City Scholarship Fund.

Mr. Phan Thanh Hau - Director of a business and his family of 16 people from Nam Dinh City came to the temple of teacher Chu Van An from 8 am to attend the ceremony. Except for the years when the Covid-19 pandemic was complicated, his family comes here almost every year to visit and worship. “There are many places to visit in the spring, but the temple is always the first choice of my family. Generations in the family, especially my children and grandchildren, when coming here to visit and worship will understand more deeply about the roots of the nation, about learning to show gratitude and remember the merits of our ancestors. From there, we will be more proud and determined to strive to study to become successful people in life, contributing to building our homeland and country,” said Mr. Hau.
