Long Dong Temple worships three famous Vietnamese scholars, including the two-country top scholar Mac Dinh Chi (1272 - 1346).

Every year, the Long Dong Temple Festival is held in the spring, commemorating the death anniversary of the two-country champion Mac Dinh Chi. This is a cultural and religious activity to promote the value of national cultural heritage, educate the morality of "remembering the source when drinking water", and is an opportunity for people and tourists from all over to commemorate the merits of the outstandingly talented champion, and encourage the younger generation to study hard and continue to contribute to building the homeland and country to become more prosperous and happy.

On March 10, the festival is held and the Saint is brought to the mausoleum.

Mac Dinh Chi's real name is Mac Cu, alias Ton Hanh, from Long Dong village, Nam Tan commune, Nam Sach. He passed the royal examination in the year of Giap Thin in 1304. Mac Dinh Chi is famous for being an honest, upright mandarin with good manners and was sent to the North twice. He was praised by King Tran Minh Tong as a noble mandarin, a golden lotus that always blooms in the jade well - the mountains and rivers of Dai Viet. With his talent, virtue and great contributions, King Tran granted him the title of Marquis and built a temple to worship him forever.

Two other famous scholars worshiped at Long Dong Temple include: Minh Kinh scholar Mac Hien Tich, who passed the examination in the second year of Quang Huu (Binh Dan 1086); Doctor Mac Kien Quan (younger brother of Trang Nguyen Mac Hien Tich), passed the examination in the year Ky Ngo (1089), and became an official with the position of Minister of Public Works.

In addition, Long Dong Temple also worships the female hero martyr Mac Thi Buoi, who died in the resistance war against the French in 1951.

With its remaining historical and cultural values, in 1995, Long Dong Temple was ranked and recognized as a National Historical Relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information. In 2019, Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee recognized Long Dong Temple as a provincial tourist destination.
