The 4 sustainability criteria identified at the Workshop "Circular agriculture and vision for agricultural development in Hai Duong province" include economic, technical, social and environmental sustainability.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thong, Chairman of the Union of Science and Technology Associations, delivered the opening speech at the workshop.
On the morning of April 25, in Tu Ky district, the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Hai Duong province in coordination with the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture and the People's Committee of Tu Ky district organized a scientific workshop "Circular agriculture and vision for agricultural development in Hai Duong province".
The workshop was attended by a number of professors and associate professors from the Vietnam Academy of Agriculture, foreign experts (participating online), businesses operating in the agricultural sector, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and representatives of a number of farmers in Tu Ky district.
Experts introduced circular agriculture in the world, in Vietnam. The goal of circular agriculture is to develop sustainable production including economic, technical, social and environmental aspects. The products produced must not only meet the food needs of society but also be economically efficient, competitive in the market, but not affect or create inequality in society.
Delegates attending the workshop
In Hai Duong, circular agriculture has developed, farmers have known how to build a closed production structure in the form of "waste from this model is the input of another model" to avoid waste, contributing to improving economic efficiency, protecting the environment in models such as raising cows, growing mushrooms, raising fish... In the future, these models will develop strongly, and be widely used by people to replace the models currently applied.
Some people attending the workshop also expressed concerns about the mechanisms, policies, and orientations of the State and the province in developing a circular economy. At the same time, they hoped to receive support from the authorities so that circular agriculture would not only take place within a single farm but also expand between farms, within the district, and within the province.
