Chi Linh expands longan growing area

This year, the longan growing area in Chi Linh (Hai Duong) reached 775 hectares, an increase of 5 hectares over the same period last year.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Chi Linh City, by 2025, the area of ​​longan cultivation in the area will reach 775 hectares, an increase of 5 hectares compared to the same period last year. Chi Linh is the locality with the largest area of ​​longan cultivation in the province. Up to now, the rate of longan flowering has reached more than 90%.

Chi Linh City has 31 growing areas that have been granted codes that are eligible for export to markets such as China, the United States, Thailand, and Japan, with an area of ​​over 270 hectares. Households growing longan for export are concentrated in the communes and wards of Ben Tam, Hoang Tan, Le Loi, Bac An, Hoang Hoa Tham... with an average output of about 4,000 tons/year.

The local longan growing area has been expanded because this crop is suitable for the soil and climate conditions, bringing high economic value compared to some other crops in the area.
