The QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) ranking organization has just announced the results of the 2024 World University Rankings. Of which, Vietnam has 5 higher education institutions ranked in the previous period, all of which continue to be ranked in this period.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology
Specifically, Duy Tan University is in position 514; Ton Duc Thang University is in position 721 - 730; Hanoi National University and Ho Chi Minh City National University are both in position 951 - 1,000; Hanoi University of Science and Technology is in position 1,201 - 1,400.
In this ranking, QS WUR 2024 ranked 1,499 higher education institutions (83 of which were ranked for the first time) out of a total of 2,963 participating higher education institutions from 104 countries and territories.
This is the 20th year that QS has published this ranking and there has been a major change in the evaluation criteria when adding 3 new criteria and changing the weight for 3/6 old criteria. The new set of 9 criteria still focuses on the assessment of the academic community and the recruitment community, adding criteria to evaluate the impact of higher education institutions on sustainable development, the employment rate of graduates and the trend of international connection in scientific research.
There are 64 ranked higher education institutions in Southeast Asia, of which Malaysia is the Southeast Asian country with the most ranked educational institutions (28), followed by Indonesia (26), Thailand (13), Vietnam (5), Philippines (5), Singapore (4) and Brunei (2). Although only 4 higher education institutions are ranked, Singapore still affirms its leading position with 2 higher education institutions in the world's top 30 (National University of Singapore - NUS ranked 8th and Nanyang Technological University - NTU ranked 26th).
In the world top 10, British and American educational institutions are still familiar names, with each country having 4 higher education institutions in the top 10. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) holds the number 1 position for the 11th consecutive year and the University of Cambridge continues to hold the 2nd position in the QS WUR 2024 rankings.
