Vietnam has 6 training institutions in the World University Rankings 2024

On September 28, Times Higher Education announced the results of the World University Rankings 2024 (THE WUR 2024).

In this ranking, Vietnam has 6 higher education institutions out of a total of 1,904 ranked higher education institutions.

Duy Tan University and Ton Duc Thang University are in the 601-800 group; Hanoi National University (group 1,201-1,500); Ho Chi Minh City National University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Hue University are in the 1,501+ group.

Thus, compared to the previous period, Vietnam still maintains 6 higher education institutions in this ranking.

However, three institutions dropped in rank: Duy Tan University and Ton Duc Thang University ranked 401-500 (2023); Hanoi National University ranked 1,001-1,200 (2023). The remaining three institutions maintained their rankings.

This year, the Times Higher Education Ranking Organization used a new set of criteria (THE WUR 3.0), increasing the number of evaluation criteria from 13 to 18 in 5 groups of criteria: teaching, research environment, research quality, transfer and internationalization level.

The results of THE WUR 2024 ranking criteria are analyzed from more than 134 million citations of 16.5 million scientific publications on the Scopus database and survey data of 68,402 scholars worldwide.

This is also the ranking with the largest number of participating higher education institutions, with 2,673 higher education institutions from 127 countries and territories.

According to the results of THE WUR 2024, the top 5 leading universities in the world are: Oxford University, Stanford University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University and Cambridge University.

In Asia, top universities include: Tsinghua University and Peking University (China), National University of Singapore, University of Tokyo, Nanyang Technological University-Singapore.
