Mercedes-Benz's EQS electric car line is considered to have a design trend closer to the S-Class after the Facelift update but is considered to be uglier than the old version.
Luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has just announced the Facelift update for the 2025 EQS electric car model. In particular, many exterior improvements, mainly in the front of the car, are considered to have a tendency to approach the high-end S-Class generation.
The front of the car is designed with additional horizontal chrome bars to simulate the front of the high-end S-class sedans. The large Mercedes-Benz logo on the front of the car has been converted into a circular logo on the hood, similar to the S-Class lines, to increase luxury and expensiveness.
The new 2025 version of the EQS is still kept almost the same as the 2024 version by the German luxury car company, but adds some chrome accents on the B-pillar vents and increases the foam thickness by 0.2 inches in the rear seat backrest to increase passenger comfort.
The main highlight is that Mercedes has replaced the old 108.4 kWh battery pack on the car with a 118 kWh battery pack to increase the capacity of use. This allows the EQS electric car to extend its operating range after being fully charged. Currently, the rear-wheel drive EQS 450 line is capable of traveling up to 563 km according to US EPA testing standards.
In addition, the EQS 2025 also has new software upgrades and improvements for the regenerative braking system, which can provide more energy to the battery pack thanks to its energy recovery capabilities.
The new 2025 EQS will officially go on sale in the US market later this year with a price of $104,400 (equivalent to about 2.5 billion VND) for the rear-wheel drive EQS 450 version and $107,400 (about 2.58 billion VND) for the all-wheel drive 450 version. The high-end EQS 580 version has a starting price of $125,950 and $147,550 for the AMG EQS sports version.
However, Motor 1 newspaper assessed that despite significant updates, EQS still does not really create a strong impression on the exterior and cannot be compared with the classic S-Class line of Mercedes-Benz.
In addition, a recent study by Motor 1 in the US showed that the Mercedes EQS lost nearly half of its value compared to when it was new after only 12 months of use. After only 1 year, the EQS lost an average of 65,143 USD, equivalent to more than 1.5 billion VND. This makes this car line really causing a lot of concern for customers.
