VinFast VF Wind pickup truck to make its debut at an exhibition in Southeast Asia

According to information from the homepage of the Bangkok International Motor Show, Vietnamese car manufacturer VinFast will participate in this year's exhibition with two models VF Wind and VF 7.

Previously, the VinFast VF Wind pickup truck made an impression when it was globally launched at the CES 2024 exhibition in the US with its strong and modern appearance.

Detailed specifications of this concept car have not been announced yet. VinFast only revealed that the car is 5,324 mm long and 1,997 mm wide, showing that VinFast Wild belongs to the mid-size pickup truck group, equivalent to Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux.

A highlight of the VinFast VF Wild is that the rear cargo box can increase in length from 1,524 mm to 2,438 mm thanks to the opening and closing door located between the passenger compartment and the cargo box.

The cabin is quite modern and ornate with a two-spoke steering wheel, separate dashboard and gearshift area, while the rear seats have two separate entertainment screens even though the VinFast VF Wild is a pickup truck.

This is the first true concept version of VinFast, when previously, the design of concept versions was quite realistic and not much different from the commercial version.

The 45th Bangkok International Motor Show 2024 is scheduled to open its doors to the public on March 27. Nearly 50 brands (35 automobile brands and 12 motorcycle brands) will be showcasing a range of powertrains, from internal combustion engines to hybrid and electric motors.

Many brands will make their debut at this exhibition including Aion, Changan, Neta, Honri, Pocco, Nexpoint, Firebright and VinFast.

Grand Prix International Public Company Limited (GPI) has invested more than 300 million THB (about 8.3 million USD) for this exhibition event. Thailand is the largest pickup truck consumption market in Southeast Asia with sales of 325,024 units in 2023, accounting for a market share of 41.8%. Moreover, pickup truck sales in Thailand are mainly mid-size pickup trucks - the segment of VinFast VF Wild.
