Vinfast's first electric car dealership has begun selling the VF9 electric car in the Triangle region of North Carolina, through car dealership Leith Automotive.

VinFast, an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Chatham County, North Carolina, will begin selling its first electric cars in the United States on December 28 (local time), according to WRAL News. The sales will be conducted through Leith Automotive dealerships in Cary.

At the showroom at Cary Auto Park, a suburb of Cary, Leith Vinfast will introduce the company’s latest electric vehicles to customers in Raleigh, Durham and Cary. The dealership is part of Vinfast’s strategy to build the U.S. market alongside the operation of its Chatham County auto assembly plant.

VinFast announced that it has received 70 dealership applications across the US and plans to expand its US point of sale network to 125 locations.

Leith Vinfast is also an agent providing maintenance and spare parts for Vinfast electric vehicles in the US.

Danny Williams, CEO of Leith Automotive, said that Vinfast's electric cars meet customers' daily travel needs without having to waste time waiting for gas. At the end of the day, they just need to go home and recharge the car's battery.

Leith Automotive is one of the largest auto dealerships in North Carolina and is headquartered in Raleigh.

Previously, VinFast announced that it had received 70 dealer registration applications across the US and planned to expand its network of points of sale in the US to 125 locations.

The Chatham plant is expected to begin assembling the VF9 electric SUV in the first quarter of 2024, followed by the VF7 electric vehicle.

Vinfast’s Chatham plant is expected to be completed in 2025, with the first phase expected to produce up to 150,000 electric vehicles annually. This will help North Carolina become a leader in the US in green technology and electric car manufacturing.
