Due to the impact of storm No. 3 and flood water after the storm, this year farmers in Vinh Lap commune (Thanh Ha, Hai Duong) lost their first crop of rươi water.
According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Lap Commune (Thanh Ha) Le Van Dat, this year farmers suffered losses in the first tenth lunar month of the year. This is considered the most abundant in the year, but the yield is much lower than previous years. On average, each sao only yields 10-20 kg of roe, down 60-70 kg/sao compared to many previous years.
The price of each kilogram of rươi is from 300,000 to 320,000 VND, the same as last year. The reason for the low number of rươi is due to the impact of storm No. 3 and the flood water after the storm. The flood water is accompanied by a lot of alluvium and mud, so it fills the rươi holes, limiting their growth.
Vinh Lap commune currently has more than 100 households exploiting rươi with nearly 50 hectares, the largest in Thanh Ha district. On average, each year, farmers in Vinh Lap commune earn more than 30 billion VND from exploiting rươi.
The decrease in productivity of earthworms also occurred in other earthworm-producing communes in Thanh Ha district such as Thanh Xuan and Thanh Hong.
