French authorities said on May 4 that a shooting occurred in a northern suburb of Paris, killing one person and injuring six others.
According to prosecutors, the incident occurred at around 11:45 p.m. on May 3 (local time) in a parking lot near a cultural center in Sevran - an area between central Paris and Charles de Gaulle airport.
This shooting is believed to be related to drug trafficking gangs.
Local police said they found four people injured at the scene. One person died shortly after, while three others were rushed to hospital in critical condition. Three more people were later taken to hospital.
Images captured at the scene showed two men in a car, one of whom got out and arrived at the scene, and one of whom got out and opened fire. After carrying out the attack, the men fled.
Speaking to the press, Paris Mayor Sevran Stephane Blanchet affirmed that "it is clear that this is a drug trafficking-related operation". He also said that "it is necessary to establish security and eradicate drug trafficking."
According to Paris authorities, police have opened an investigation into attempted murder against an organized gang.
