Shooting kills 12 people in Iran

A shooting occurred on February 17 in a remote rural area of ​​Kerman province, southeastern Iran, killing 12 people. The shooter was a 30-year-old man.

Iran's ISNA news agency quoted the head of the Kerman provincial justice department as saying that the man used a gun to shoot his father and relatives. The incident occurred early on the morning of February 17. The initial cause was said to be a family dispute. According to ISNA, the suspect used a Kalashnikov automatic rifle, but ISNA did not specify the identity of the person.

Iranian media reported that security forces shot dead the perpetrator.

In Iran, people are only allowed to use hunting guns and these guns are commonly used in rural areas.
