On the morning of January 2, the second day Decree 168 took effect, most traffic participants strictly followed traffic light signals, but there were still cases of deliberately running red lights.
On the second day of Decree 168/2024 taking effect, at many intersections in Hanoi, most traffic participants obeyed traffic lights and did not go against traffic...However, there are still many people going the wrong way on Nguyen Xien Street (from Pham Tu Street to Nguyen Xien - Nguyen Trai intersection). There are even cases of people going the wrong way on the sidewalk, forcing pedestrians to avoid them. This group of people going in the opposite direction also stood haphazardly at the intersection, causing traffic chaos.Road Traffic Police Team No. 7 (Traffic Police Department, Hanoi City Police) has arranged 10 officers and soldiers to both direct traffic and handle violations. There have been more than 20 cases of violations such as running red lights and driving in the wrong direction that have been punished... For this violation, each person will be fined 5 million VND and have points deducted from their driver's license.Ms. NTH (21 years old, living in Hoang Mai) burst into tears when the traffic police announced the fine for running a red light was 5 million VND and deducted 4 points from her driving license. Ms. H. said that she was in a hurry to take the test and accidentally ran a red light. If she had known the fine was so heavy, she would have strictly complied.Mr. TAV (24 years old, residing in Thanh Tri) also said that this was the last time he violated the red light violation because the fine was higher than his income.According to statistics from the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police, on January 1, the City Police handled 594 violations. Of these, 62 were red light runners and 20 were driving in the wrong direction...Colonel Pham Quang Huy, Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), said that the department's viewpoint is to raise the level of administrative violation handling to deter and educate a part of the traffic participants with poor awareness.VN (according to Vietnamnet)
