On the morning of August 1, the People's Court of Chi Linh City tried defendant Vu Van Mung (born in 1979, living in Thanh Trung residential area, Chi Minh ward, Chi Linh city) for the crimes of illegal drug trafficking and manufacturing of prohibited goods.
At about 2:00 p.m. on January 6, 2023, Mung illegally sold drugs for 500,000 VND to Luong Thi Nga (born in 1990, permanent residence in Than Sa commune, Vo Nhai district, Thai Nguyen), who was renting a room in Tu Giang residential area, Tan Dan ward, Chi Linh city.
During an emergency search of Mung's residence, the police discovered and seized 2.097 grams of methamphetamine, which Mung said he had hidden to sell for profit. The police also discovered that Mung had illegally produced 7 kilograms of firecrackers, seized 2.04 kilograms of firecracker powder, and many other substances and materials used to produce firecrackers.
The court sentenced Mung to a total of five years in prison. Nga had previously been administratively punished for illegal drug use.
