After launching in Vietnam at the end of September, the new generation Skoda Kodiaq 2024 will be introduced to the world on October 4 with changes focusing on the interior.
After a long time since revealing the new generation, Skoda has recently set the launch date for the second generation Kodiaq on October 4.
Before the official images were released, Motor1 posted some sketches based on information revealed by the Czech car company. Most likely, this will be the interface of the upcoming Kodiaq.
More than a year ago, the Vision 7S concept was introduced by Skoda and considered a new design language of the company. However, the 2024 Kodiaq will probably only have slight exterior modifications instead of a complete renewal.
First, the headlights and wheel arches become more square, accompanied by the familiar Skoda grille. The overall appearance remains unchanged because this design is still popular with users.
To increase competitiveness, Skoda will likely equip the 2024 Kodiaq with adaptive LED Matrix headlights with more technology. The car's D-pillar will be painted black to create a seamless look for the side windows. Finally, the taillights will have a sharper, more eye-catching interface. The rear bumper will likely have additional ribs to increase the ruggedness.
According to another source, the wheel size remains at 17 inches as standard and increases to 20 inches on higher-end versions.
Although the exterior has changed little, the cabin will undergo a “revolution” to reduce the monotony and boredom of the old generation – especially the dashboard area. The 2024 Skoda Kodiaq will have a large 13-inch touchscreen and three 1.25-inch screens mounted in a rotary knob on the center console.
These small screens have multiple functions to reduce physical button clutter, while also providing quicker access than using a large screen. Drivers will also have a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel.
While the Kodiaq isn’t expected to get any bigger, Skoda appears to have stretched the SUV by 61mm to provide better luggage space in both the five- and seven-seat variants. The higher roofline makes for more space in the second row.
It will be one of the last new VW Group products to come with an internal combustion engine, including the 1.5-litre TSI – the core of the plug-in hybrid version that the first-generation Kodiaq did not have. There are also two engine options, the 2.0 TSI and 2.0 TDI. All variants are equipped with a dual-clutch automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.
In Vietnam, Skoda Kodiaq and Karoq are two models that have just been launched in the event of the European car company's first "set foot" in our country's market. This SUV model competes directly with some rivals such as Ford Everest, Toyota Fortuner or Hyundai Santa Fe. The selling price of the car ranges from 1.189-1.409 billion VND for the two versions, higher than other models in the same segment.
