Vietnam won 2 world taekwondo gold medals

The Vietnamese taekwondo team won two gold medals in the U50 standard women's team and the over-17 creative team at the 2024 World Taekwondo Championship.

On December 2, in Hong Kong (China), athletes Chau Tuyet Van, Nguyen Thi Le Kim and Lien Thi Tuyet Mai of the Vietnamese taekwondo team competed excellently in the U50 standard women's team event at the 2024 World Taekwondo Championship.

In the first test, the Vietnamese players shared 8,780 points with Korea, but lost in presentation points (5,320 points compared to 5,340 points).

In the second test, Chau Tuyet Van and her teammates performed excellently to win with 8,800 points (Korea only won 8,700 points), thereby winning the gold medal with a final score of 8,790 points.

This is Chau Tuyet Van's 5th world gold medal (2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014) and the second gold medal of the Vietnamese team at this year's tournament.

Previously, athletes including Nguyen Thi Y Binh, Tran Phuong Nhung, Nguyen Thanh Hien Linh, Nguyen Ngoc Minh Hy, Tran Dang Khoa, and Ho Thanh An excellently brought home gold medals in the creative team event for the over-17 age group.

The 2024 World Taekwondo Championship is taking place in Hong Kong (China), with the participation of 1,727 athletes from 77 countries and territories, the largest ever.

The Vietnamese taekwondo team participated in this year's tournament with 47 members, including 7 coaches and 40 athletes.

The tournament will end on December 4. In the remaining competition time, the Vietnamese team is still considered capable of winning the gold medal if the draw results are favorable.
