Vietnam has the most representatives participating in the world billiards tournament.

Reigning champions Bao Phuong Vinh, Tran Quyet Chien, Nguyen Van Tai, Tran Thanh Luc, Le Thanh Tien and Tran Duc Minh are the six Vietnamese players participating in the upcoming tournament. Of these, Phuong Vinh is the reigning champion, Quyet Chien is in the world's Top 16, Van Tai and Thanh Luc are Asian qualifiers, and Thanh Tien and Duc Minh have special tickets from the host.

The World Carom 3-Cushion Championship (World Championship), has been held annually since 1928. This year's tournament will be held for the first time in Vietnam, in Binh Thuan from September 25 to 29. Last year in Ankara, Turkey, Phuong Vinh surprisingly won the championship in his first participation. He is also the only Vietnamese player to have won this tournament, while the world titles of Quyet Chien and Duc Minh were previously in the World Cup - which takes place about six or seven times a year.

This year's tournament has 48 spots, including one for the defending champion, 16 spots in order of the world, 13 spots from Europe, 8 from the Americas, 5 from Asia and 3 from Africa. The remaining two spots are chosen by the host. The players are divided into 16 groups of 3 people each, playing a round robin to select two players from each group to enter the knockout round (round of 16).

South Korea has the second-most representatives, with five players, including Kim Jun-tae, Cho Myung-woo, Heo Jung-han, Kim Haeng-jik and Seo Chang-hoon. Türkiye has four players, including former champion Tayfun Tasdemir, Tolgahan Kiraz, Berkay Karakurt and Turgay Orak. No other team has more than two representatives.

Last year, Phuong Vinh and Quyet Chien met in the final of this tournament, and the two players are currently in the Top 3 in the world, after Dick Jaspers (Netherlands). Duc Minh, with the World Cup championship in Ho Chi Minh City in May 2024, is also expected to create a surprise.

Currently, Vietnamese players are banned by the Asian Billiards Sports Association (ACBS) and the World Pool Association (WPA). However, the World 3-Cushion Carom Championship is organized by the World Billiards Union (UMB), and they are not dependent on ACBS or WPA.
