The Vietnam Futsal team did not start as expected when they only managed a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Myanmar Futsal on the opening day of Group A of the 2024 Asian Futsal Championship.

This result accurately reflects what happened on the field. The Vietnamese Futsal team was rated higher but did not create too much pressure on Myanmar.

The best chance the Vietnam Futsal team created in the first half was Nguyen Thinh Phat's header that hit the crossbar.

In the second half, Vietnam Futsal increased the pressure and scored the opening goal 1-0 at minute 23 and 20 seconds. Minh Quang, with his back to the goal, skillfully pressed the Myanmar defender, calmly handled the ball and shot a tricky cross-angle shot to defeat his opponent.

The goal helped coach Diego Giustozzi's team play more comfortably and create many notable plays, but the attack could not take advantage of the opportunities to widen the gap.

Having a good game but not scoring any more goals, Vietnam Futsal surprisingly let the opponent equalize 1-1 after Ko Ko Lwin's quick finish at minute 29 and 30.

In the following minutes, Vietnam Futsal pushed up their attacks to find a second goal, but were unsuccessful, leaving the field with a 1-1 draw.

With this result, Vietnam Futsal needs to make an effort to win 3 points against China Futsal on April 19 to hope to pass the group stage of the 2024 Asian Futsal Championship.
