According to VFF, the goal of Coach Diego Giustozzi and his team at the 2024 Asian Futsal Championship Finals is to compete for a ticket to the Futsal World Cup for the third time in history.
On December 13, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) announced that the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will draw lots for the 2024 AFC Futsal Championship Finals in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) at 2:00 p.m. on December 14 (Vietnam time).
The Vietnam Futsal team has qualified for the 2024 AFC Futsal Championship Finals as Group D winners, after three wins against South Korea, Mongolia and Nepal in the qualifying round.

There are 16 teams participating in the 2024 AFC Futsal Championship Finals and they are divided into four seed groups for the draw.
Vietnam is in Group 2 along with Tajikistan, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Group 1 includes host Thailand, Japan, Iran and Uzbekistan.
Group 3 includes Iraq, Bahrain, South Korea and Myanmar. Group 4 includes Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Australia and China.
The 16 teams from the four seeding pots will be drawn into four groups of four teams each. The draws will be conducted in order from pot 4 to pot 1.
Host Thailand is assigned code number 1 in group A (A1), so the teams Japan, Iran, Uzbekistan will be drawn into positions B1, C1, D1.
The 2024 AFC Futsal Championship Finals will take place in Thailand from April 17-28, 2024. Teams will compete in a round-robin format to determine rankings in each group.
The first and second place teams from the four groups (eight teams) will advance to the quarter-finals. The four winners of the quarter-finals will advance to the semi-finals to determine the two winning teams to compete for the championship title.
The top four teams with the best results at the 2024 AFC Futsal Championship Finals (i.e. the four semi-finalists) will be entered into the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup Finals.
Uzbekistan is the host of the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup. Therefore, if the country's team reaches the top four teams at the 2024 AFC Futsal Championship, the four losing teams in the Quarterfinals will compete in a play-off round to determine Asia's fifth ticket to the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup.
