For many months now, every evening, at public places in Tao Khe village, Chi Lang Bac commune (Thanh Mien), there is the sound of laughter from people exercising and playing sports. Previously, "Mr. Lien" pond in hamlet 4 in the village was like a stagnant water area, each house around encroached on a little, garbage was thrown everywhere, very polluted. Since June 2023, the Farmers' Association and the Women's Association of the commune have implemented the renovation of the pond into a community activity and outdoor sports practice area. After more than 3 months of renovation with a budget of nearly 300 million VND from socialized sources, many types of exercise machines have been installed to serve the people. The yard in the middle has become a volleyball court that attracts a large number of players every afternoon. The yard is also decorated with some cool green trees. From a stagnant pond, this area has become a highlight of the village landscape.

The area around the "Mr. Co" pond in Tao Khe village has also been renovated and equipped with exercise equipment, creating a peaceful landscape that few rural areas have. "My wife and I often come here to exercise to improve our health. Since the sports field was built, everyone has come here to exercise and chat, and the village and neighborhood relationships have become closer," said Mr. Vu Van Truong, a resident of Tao Khe village, excitedly.

In Phu Noi residential area, Thanh Mien town, people often joke with each other that the main road leading to Vinh Quang pagoda, which was just completed in November 2023, is the widest concrete road in the district. From a road section about 3.5 m wide, people in the residential area agreed to contribute funds to widen the road to more than 15 m. With a total investment of over 1 billion VND, up to 80% of the funds were contributed by people and children of the hometown. "The completed road not only helps the landscape in this area become more spacious, but also creates convenience for people and tourists from other places to visit Vinh Quang pagoda relic, especially during the upcoming festival. Many community activities in the residential area have also been organized here," said Party Cell Secretary, Head of Phu Noi residential area Do Tien Tien.

Along with the above road section, in 2023, Thanh Mien town has built, renovated and upgraded more than 1.6 km of roads in the areas and hamlets. Of the total cost of more than 3.3 billion VND, resources from people's contributions and socialization are more than 2.3 billion VND.

Not only Chi Lang Bac commune or Thanh Mien town, in the past year, many localities in Thanh Mien district were like bustling construction sites. In 2023, the Standing Committee of Thanh Mien District Party Committee identified a breakthrough task of mobilizing all resources to focus on upgrading and completing the traffic system in villages and residential areas according to the criteria of advanced new rural areas, model new rural areas, and civilized urban areas. In the context of limited budget, to do the above, the district has a policy of allocating 1 billion VND to each locality. The above amount is used as "seed capital" for communes and towns to identify the road sections that need to be upgraded, built and mobilize more socialized resources and people's contributions to work together.

People's lives are increasingly developing. The traffic system in many villages can no longer meet the increasing number of motor vehicles. The 3-4 m wide roads make it difficult for cars to travel and avoid each other. The policy of upgrading and perfecting the traffic system in villages and residential areas according to the criteria of advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas suitable for practical requirements quickly received the support of the people and became a major movement in the district. According to the Thanh Mien District Party Committee's Propaganda Department, in 2023, the whole district invested in upgrading and building more than 33 km of rural roads with a total cost of over 70 billion VND, of which socialized resources and people's contributions accounted for over 60% of the total investment. People in the district also donated more than 8,000 m2 of land for road construction. Adding the number of working days and constructions that people dismantled themselves and spent their own money to rebuild, the resources from socialization to build roads in the district are much larger.

Together with the joint efforts to open the road, with a total budget of nearly 7 billion VND, of which the budget is only over 400 million VND, up to now, most villages and residential areas in Thanh Mien have public places with installed exercise and sports equipment. Also from socialized resources, Thanh Mien is the leading locality to complete the relocation of electric poles on the roadway so that people can travel safely.

Along with the active participation of Party committees, authorities and organizations at all levels, the local experience is that it is necessary to choose specific, practical tasks that serve the common interests, then the people will respond and wholeheartedly implement them."

Visiting localities in Thanh Mien, we heard many stories about families donating dozens of square meters of land to build roads; clans voluntarily moving hundreds of years old graves to clear the land; many businessmen donated billions of dong to build their hometowns. The reality in Thanh Mien is a living proof of the power of the Party's will in accordance with the people's will.
