The draw for the 2025 AFC U20 qualifiers has put Vietnam U20 in a very easy group.
Despite being eliminated from the group stage of the 2023 AFC U20 Championship, Vietnam U20 is still seeded No. 1 in the 2025 AFC U20 Championship qualifiers. This helps coach Hua Hien Vinh and his team get a favorable draw when they only have to face teams that are rated much lower.
Specifically, the AFC draw on the afternoon of June 13th put U20 Vietnam in Group A with opponents: Syria, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Guam. Among these teams, only Syria can be considered on par with U20 Vietnam. Coach Hua Hien Vinh and his team will play at home at a location to be announced by VFF in the near future.
The group winners will qualify for the finals, while the runners-up will need to compare their results with the other runners-up to determine the final tickets to China in 2025.
The 2025 AFC U20 Championship qualifiers will feature 45 teams, divided into five groups of five and five groups of four. The 10 group winners and five best runners-up will qualify for the finals alongside the host team China. The AFC U20 Championship qualifiers will take place from September 21 to 29, 2024.
The 2025 AFC U20 Championship will be the basis for determining the teams participating in the 2025 AFC U20 World Cup held in Chile. The four semi-finalists of the 2025 AFC U20 Championship will qualify for the world-class tournament in the South American country.
