The low rate of teachers with dual and triple training makes it difficult for schools to arrange timetables and teaching.
According to the Department of Education and Training, the rate of teachers trained in 2 and 3 subjects to teach natural sciences and 2 subjects to teach history and geography at secondary school level is currently very low.
The province has 976 teachers teaching physics, chemistry, and biology and 631 teachers teaching history and geography. Most teachers are only trained in one subject. Specifically, for natural science subjects including physics, chemistry, and biology, the percentage of teachers with 2 majors is 14.7%, 3 majors is only 0.2%, and single subject is 85%. For history and geography, the percentage of teachers with 2 majors is 1.3%, and single subject is 98.7%.
The low rate of teachers with dual and triple training makes it difficult for schools to arrange timetables and teaching. Schools still have to assign teachers to teach single subjects as before.
According to the new general education program 2018, from the 2021-2022 school year, secondary schools will begin teaching two integrated subjects: history - geography and natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology) for 6th grade students.
