Dismantling a large-scale gambling ring in the form of lottery recording, arresting 17 subjects

The subjects were arrested.

The leader of this gambling ring is Nguyen Tuan Dung (born in 1982, residing in Trung Do ward, Vinh city). Dung has formed and operated a system of minions in his gambling ring in many areas in Vinh city and Hung Nguyen district.

The police determined that this was a gambling ring in the form of recording lottery numbers, with a very large daily transaction volume, organized and operating in a secretive and sophisticated manner with many tricks to erase traces of the crime. The amount of money the subjects used for gambling ranged from 800 million VND to 1 billion VND/day.

After a period of monitoring and synchronous application of professional measures, on July 24, the Criminal Police Department, Nghe An Provincial Police presided over and coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security's Professional Department and the Provincial Police's Professional Department to deploy 17 working groups with dozens of officers and soldiers to approach and raid locations, arresting 17 subjects.

During the search, the authorities seized 120 million VND in cash, 25 mobile phones, three lottery cables and some other evidence. Initially, the police clarified that the amount of money the subjects transacted for gambling on July 24 alone was 800 million VND.
