Deploying the peak of anti-smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods during Tet

Since the beginning of 2023, the world economic situation has remained difficult, highly uncertain, with complex and rapid developments, along with many new and unexpected factors, with both short-term and long-term risks. Although Vietnam's security, political, economic and social situation is currently stable, with many important and comprehensive results, recognized by international public opinion and the people, many unfavorable external factors still directly affect Vietnam.

Experts predict: In the last month of the year and the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024, the situation of smuggling, illegal transportation of goods, trade fraud and counterfeit goods of prohibited items (such as drugs, firecrackers, explosives, etc.) and essential goods for production, business and consumption often increases, becomes more complicated with more sophisticated and modern methods and tricks on routes and fields, especially land borders, sea areas, international airports and key inland areas in the country.

To proactively control the situation, the National Steering Committee 389 has issued a Plan to strengthen direction, inspection, urging, and guidance for the Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches, and localities to proactively and promptly control the situation of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods; regularly exchange, share information, coordinate inspection, control, detection, combat, arrest, and handling of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods to prevent and repel smuggling activities, illegal transportation of goods across borders, border gates, and sea areas; trade fraud, tax evasion; acts...

Accordingly, the National Steering Committee 389 requested the Steering Committees 389 of ministries, branches and localities to develop and effectively implement the Plan for the peak period against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2024 according to the fields and areas of management and responsibility.

Proactively deploy forces and means to patrol and strictly control border routes; road, rail, river, sea and air border gates and trails, openings, and goods gathering areas near the border to prevent smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal transportation of goods into the country; focusing on prohibited goods, poor quality goods, conditionally imported goods, high-tax goods, essential goods for production, business, and consumption during the Lunar New Year...

Proactively grasp the situation; identify new methods and tricks of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; identify key routes, areas, subjects and goods to concentrate forces, means and measures to fight; clearly define the responsibilities of central and local agencies and units in the management, inspection and control of fields and areas.

At the same time, strengthen market inspection and control of essential goods and goods in high demand for production and consumption during the end of the year and Lunar New Year; focusing on strictly controlling wholesale markets, shopping malls, agents, e-commerce trading floors, social networking sites (Facebook, Zalo, Tiktok...) for online buying and selling... promptly detect and strictly handle acts of taking advantage of business activities to buy, sell, and transport prohibited goods, counterfeit goods, goods of unknown origin, goods that violate intellectual property rights...
